This weekend has several events you don’t want to miss. On Friday, there will be an International Potluck Dinner in the Comstock Dining Room, featuring food from all over the world. Dinner will be served from 5 – 7 p.m. Earlier on Friday, at 1 p.m., jazz guitarists Joe Chiappone will perform in the Scandling Campus Center. Chiappone performs with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Broadway touring shows, and several other regional bands.
The highlight for the weekend is likely to be the Koshare Dance Collective with performances on Friday and Saturday in the Winn-Seeley Theatre. Also at 7:30 p.m., the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra will perform downtown at the Smith Opera House. Hobart Hockey will take on Elmira at the rink downtown.
On Saturday and Sunday, William Smith College will host the third and fourth rounds of the 2010 NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Tournament. On Saturday, William Smith will take on Oneonta at 11 a.m., followed by Eastern Connecticut State playing Williams at 1:30 p.m. The two advancing teams will play at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21. Go Herons!
Also Saturday is Sustainable Saturday; the community is invited to join Chaplain Lesley Adams for a day of baking bread. Departing from the Chaplain’s residence at 10 a.m., students will visit a bakery, learn how to bake bread, and have lunch. On Saturday afternoon, the William Smith Swimming and Diving Team will compete against SUNY Cobleskill in the Bristol Pool at 1 p.m. On Saturday night, Hobart Hockey will be out on the ice again, competing against Geneseo.
On Sunday, Professor Les Friedman will deliver a lecture titled, “Stars of David: The Jewish Experience in American Cinema,” at 7 p.m. in Temple Beth-El. A reception sponsored by the Abbe Center for Jewish Life will follow the talk. Concluding the weekend, join the Episcopal Fellowship of Hobart and William Smith Colleges for Choral Evensong in honor of the Feast of Saint Cecilia. The Evening Prayer service will begin at 5 p.m. in St. John’s Chapel.
