TVGuide.com recently announced that it has promoted Mickey O’Connor ’94 to managing editor. As such, O’Connor now oversees TVGuide.com’s breaking news and editorial coverage and manages staff based in New York and Hollywood.
“Mickey’s promotion to managing editor is a testament to his leadership and his contribution to the success of TVGuide.com’s industry-leading entertainment news coverage,” said Christy Tanner, senior vice president and general manager, TVGuide.com. “He will continue to steer our original editorial while also overseeing the creation of original videos, features, interviews and recaps of the most-watched shows on television.”
O’Connor joined TVGuide.com in January 2008 as senior editor. Since joining the company, he has been in charge of the site’s most popular recurring features, Mega Buzz and a weekly round-up of the top TV moments. During his tenure, he has profiled the cast and creators of some of TV’s most popular shows including “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Desperate Housewives,” “House, The Vampire Diaries,” “Lost” and the “Law & Order” shows.
Prior to joining TV Guide, O’Connor spent six years at “Entertainment Weekly’s” EW.com, where he was the founding editor of “PopWatch,” the site’s first entertainment news blog.
After graduating with a B.A. in architectural studies from Hobart College, he attended Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, where he received honors in cultural reporting and writing. Earlier in his career, he studied architecture in Florence, Italy, and wrote briefly on the subject for Architecture and the New York Times.
