Perkins Gave Keynote at North Dakota Alcohol and Substance Abuse Conference

Wesley Perkins, professor of sociology, was gave the opening keynote address for the North Dakota Alcohol and Substance Abuse Summit, a statewide annual conference sponsored by North Dakota Division of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services held in Bismarck, N.D., on Sept. 8. The title of his address was “A Healthy Dose of Reality: Reducing High-Risk Behavior Using Social Norms.” He also presented a workshop on “Getting Out the Word About Positive Peer Norms: Strategies for Delivering Social Norm Messages” for this conference attended by addictions counselors, health educators, social workers and prevention specialists working in school and community settings.
