Salvatore ’13 in Boston Globe

Sydni Salvatore ’13 was recently featured in The Boston Globe as a local student athlete. Salvatore is from Walpole, Mass., and is a member of the William Smith Herons basketball team. She was named to the Team of the Week for Jan. 3, 2011 and has been Co-guard of the Week.

“Defensively, Sydni is one of our smartest players. She reads and anticipates the play very well and we’re thrilled that she’s become more offensive-minded,” the article quotes head coach Lindsay Drury.

“Syd is a threat off the dribble, she can shoot the three which makes her tough to defend and she’s one of our better passers.”

Sydni Salvatore of Walpole, a 5-foot-8 sophomore guard on the William Smith College women’s basketball team in Geneva, N.Y., is considered one of the Herons’ finest all-around players by head coach Lindsay Drury.

Salvatore, who led the Rebels to the state semifinals as a high school senior, matched her career high of 15 points in William Smith’s Liberty League opener against Hamilton College, a game in which she added 6 assists and 5 rebounds. She also had 13 points and 10 rebounds against Ithaca.

“Defensively, Sydni is one of our smartest players. She reads and anticipates the play very well and we’re thrilled that she’s become more offensive-minded,” said Drury. “Syd is a threat off the dribble, she can shoot the three which makes her tough to defend and she’s one of our better passers.”
