Keeping in mind this year’s goal of 10% & 10% – recycling rate up by 10% and energy consumption down by 10%, the Office of Sustainability presents the next event of the sustainability competition. Monday, Feb. 7, will mark the day of the 2nd annual Sustainability Sweep.
Starting at 5:15 p.m. sharp, teams of up to four students, faculty and staff are encouraged to meet at the Scandling Campus Center and get geared up for an energy and recycling sweep. The Sweep will last until 6:30 p.m., and will entail teams encouraging campus energy conservation and collecting recyclables – competitive spirit is encouraged but clever tricks to sabotage fellow competitors are frowned upon.
Last year more than 40 students came out and participated in the race to collect the most recyclables, 953.9 lbs of recyclables were gathered.
The team that has the greatest impact on energy consumption will win a $100 gift certificate to Port’s Café while the team that returns with the most recyclables will win a free dinner to the The Red Dove Tavern.
So, get your team together and come out this Monday to the Sustainability Sweep!
