Just like the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XLV in Dallas, Texas, the Religious Life Office and the Hobart football team were triumphant in their effort to raise funds for the Geneva Community Lunch Program. With the help of the HWS Community, the “Souper Bowl of Caring” collection totaled $364.25.
“It really makes a difference when members of the Hobart football team and Campus Peer Ministers personally ask the HWS community to help feed hungry people in Geneva,” says HWS Chaplain Lesley Adams, one of the organizers of the annual drive, which took place over Super Bowl weekend, from February 2 to 4. “Our folks are very generous. I know more folks would have given had they brought their wallets to Saga!” she concluded.
Since 1983, the Community Lunch Program has offered a hot meal each weekday to those in need, serving approximately 70 individuals each day and more than 20,000 meals per year.
