Duffy honored by Liberty League

William Smith first-year Lia Duffy was named the Liberty League Women’s Swimming and Diving Co-Rookie of the Week today. She swam on three record-breaking relays and logged five personal bests at the UNYSCSA Championships over the weekend.

Duffy’s highest finish of the meet came with the 200-yard freestyle relay that placed fifth. Swimming with the 200 medley relay, she and her teammates set a school record in the prelims and finished 8th overall. Duffy swam with the 400 free relay that placed ninth, and broke the school record not once, but twice with the 400 medley relay that finished 10th.

Individually, Duffy swam a pair of lifetime bests in the 100 free, finishing 10th in 54.29. In the 50 free, she swam a lifetime best 24.96 in the prelims and placed 12th in 25.07. Duffy lowered her 50 time again when she swam the leadoff leg of the 200 free relay, touching the wall in 24.83. She also swam the 100 breaststroke, producing a lifetime best time of 1:10.51 in the prelims and finishing 15th in 1:10.52.

The UNYSCSA Championship meet was the final event of the 2010-11 season for the Herons.
