The William Smith tennis team finished out its spring break trip with an 8-1 win over Principia this afternoon. The Herons were a perfect 4-0 on their trip to Florida.
William Smith (6-1) picked up two doubles wins. Junior Jess McCue and junior Katie Serock defeated their Panther opponents 8-4 at No. 2, and the duo of sophomore Hallsey Leighton and sophomore Remy Raevsky swept Caroline Korthals and Jasmine Carcieri at No. 3, 8-0.
Senior Amanda Slack faced some of the stiffest competition of the day, but came away with a 6-1, 4-6, 10-2 win at the top singles spot. Junior Casey Kennedy triumphed at No. 2 by scores of 6-4, 6-4. At No. 3, sophomore Kiara Ocasio recorded a 6-1, 6-4 victory, and junior Joanie Hilton cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4. Senior Melissa Slack and Raevsky both swept their opponents at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively.
The Herons will be back in action on Saturday, March 26 when they travel to take on The College of New Jersey at 11 a.m.
