Relay for Life 2011

Hobart and William Smith will kick-off the 4th Annual Relay for Life with an honorary Survivor’s Lap to celebrate the lives of individuals who have battled cancer on Friday, April 8, at 7:15 p.m. in Bristol Gym.

Anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer will join together on the track to take the first lap. Because no one fights cancer alone, friends, family members and caregivers are encouraged to attend the Survivor’s Lap and join their loved ones as they walk around the track.

The walk will continue through 7 a.m. on Saturday. All members of the Colleges’ community are invited to participate.

During the overnight fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, individuals are encouraged to form teams and take turns walking around the track during the 12-hour event. This year’s fundraising goal is $50,000 and to date the Hobart and William Smith Colleges’ Relay for Life has fundraised more than $13,000. The event will include three ceremonies, live performances by campus organizations, two bands, a DJ, games, competitions and theme laps.

If you are a cancer survivor and would like to take part in the Relay for Life of Hobart and William Smith Colleges please contact Colleges Against Cancer. All survivors receive a complimentary Relay for Life T-shirt.

According to the American Cancer Society approximately 1.6 million individuals were diagnosed with cancer in 2010. If you would like to learn how you can join the fight visit www.relayforlife.org/hobartwilliamsmithcollege.
