The William Smith tennis team topped visiting Geneseo 6-3 in a match played this afternoon in Bristol Field House. The Herons improve to 13-3, and the Blue Knights are now 11-3 this season.
William Smith came out of double play with two points. Junior Jess McCue and junior Katie Serock teamed up to pick up an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles. It was their seventh win of the season. The duo of sophomore Hallsey Leighton and sophomore Remy Raevsky earned an 8-5 victory at No. 3. They improved their doubles record to 19-7.
In singles, sophomore Kiara Ocasio led the Herons with a 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 win at No. 3. It was her 15th victory this year. Junior Joanie Hilton cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 4 to improve her season singles mark to 18-5. Senior Melissa Slack triumphed at No. 5, 7-5, 6-2 for her 14th victory this year. Leighton rallied for a 4-6, 6-3, 12-10 win at No. 6. She improved her singles record to 11-2.
The Herons will be back in action on April 30, when they travel to play Ithaca at 11 a.m.
