The Hobart and William Smith Colleges sailing team finished seventh out of 18 teams at the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Coed Dinghy Western Semifinals over the weekend. Their finish earned the squad a spot in the ICSA/Gill Dinghy National Championship which will take place in Cascade Locks, Ore. on May 30 – June 1. The top nine teams advanced to the national final.
Senior David Thompson and sophomore Catherine Pelo teamed up for a seventh place finish in the A Division. They placed in the top-5 in five out of 11 races. They posted a second place finish in their second race, and earned a victory in their third.
In the B Division, junior Austen Anderson and sophomore Bridget Nannig claimed eighth. The pair finished eight races in the top-10, including three top-5 finishes and one win.
William Smith sailors will be on the water May 23-26 at the ICSA Women’s National Championship in Cascade Locks, Ore.
