Saturday Evening Offers Variety

Saturday evening will feature a variety of live entertainment and activities to ensure there will be something for everyone who attends Reunion 2011. Whether alums prefer to stay on the Quad and hear the band Brass Taxi or stop by the Scandling Campus Center for some professional jazz, the perfect cap to two days of fun will be getting reacquainted with friends on Saturday.

Fireworks will start at 9:45 p.m. Jared Weeden, director of alumni relations, explains the fireworks that explode over Coxe Hall, “are a long-time tradition of the Colleges, and a favorite among Reunion goers and Geneva residents alike.”

Also starting at 9:45 p.m., the Oaks Tent  on the Quad will open for a full cash bar and dessert will be served under the dining tents.

Following the fireworks spectacular, the Quad Party of 2011 will commence with live music by Brass Taxi.  The nine-member band has been performing throughout the Upstate N.Y. area since 1996, and has played a number of times at the Colleges, first performing at the “Campaign for the Colleges” kickoff in 2006.  Brass Taxi plays favorites from 1970 to today, and is sure to get the party started.

For those looking for an alternative to Rock and Pop on the Quad will want to head over to Scandling Campus Center to swing the night away with the Rochester Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra.  This 19-piece orchestra performs songs by artists such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald and Natalie Cole.
