Take Back the Night March Draws Crowd

The annual Take Back the Night march, in which only 15 women participated three years ago, drew about 200 students, staff, and faculty according to the article “Take Back the Night — Annual march draws largest crowd yet” in the Oct. 19 Finger Lakes Times.

“This is incredible,” said sophomore Stephanie Feinman, one of the organizers. “I think because of the recent assault on campus a lot of people turned out.”

“We have a lot of faculty support tonight,” said Leanne Roncolato, another sophomore organizer.

Support was not just from William Smith students. A Hobart student said, “I was in my room in Sherrill, and I heard the women shouting in the streets. The energy and strength tonight is amazing. I'm here tonight because years ago my sister was sexually assaulted, and I saw the turmoil she went through. Women, the men here are with you, here beside you. You are not alone.”
