Wanjira Mathai ’94 Discussed her Mother, Kenya and the Environment on Democracy Now

Wanjira Mathai, daughter of Kenyan environmentalist Dr. Wangari Maathai P’94, P’96, Sc.D.’94 who was recently awarded the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize, was interviewed on Democracy Now Oct. 21, and was broadcast on WEOS-FM. Wanjira is the international liaison for the world-renowned Green Belt Movement which was founded by her mother. She is a rising figure in Kenyan and international environmental, women’s and social justice movements. She is a member of the William Smith Class of 1994.
