Hobart and William Smith Colleges’ “Meet the Campus with John Heavey” has earned a Gold Award in the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District II 2011 Accolades Awards Program. “Meet the Campus” was included in the Online/CD/DVD Content category.
Launched in February 2010, “Meet the Campus” was a weekly video series that profiled the Colleges’ faculty, staff and students in an effort to virtually introduce the campus to prospective students and their parents, and to reintroduce campus to alums in an informative yet entertaining way. The series was hosted by John Heavey ‘09. The series was retired in the fall of 2010, and its sequel “Back to School with John Heavey” ran from October 1, 2010, through April 8, 2011. Heavey, who was working in the Office of Communications during filming, recently left to enter the film program at The Tisch School of the Arts at New York University starting this fall.
The Accolades Awards program includes 40 different categories, including alumni relations, communications, design, development, grant writing, magazines, marketing, news writing, photography, portals, publications, and web.
CASE is the professional organization for advancement professionals at all levels who work in alumni relations, communications, fundraising, marketing and other areas, serving nearly 3,400 universities, colleges, schools and related organizations in 60 countries.
Hobart and William Smith Colleges have earned a number of recent accolades from CASE. Last year, the Colleges’ 3D website [www.hws.edu/3D], designed for prospective students, earned a Bronze Award in the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) 2010 Circle of Excellence Awards.
The CASE Circle of Excellence Awards acknowledge superior accomplishments that have lasting impact, demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and deliver exceptional results. The Circle of Excellence awards are judged by panels of advancement practitioners who understand the challenges, opportunities and rewards inherent in the advancement profession.
Also last year, the Colleges’ materials were given Silver Awards from the CASE District II 2010 Accolades Awards Program. The winning materials and programs were the Colleges’ student recruitment package, Reunion news website, and Orientation video series. In 2009, the “Top 10” admissions website developed internally earned Honorable Mention. In 2008, the Centennial website earned a Silver Award. In 2006, the Colleges earned a Bronze Award in the “Creativity on a Shoestring” category. Additionally, HWS earned a bronze award in the 2008 CASE Circle of Excellence Award, Complete Website category.
