Kendra Fletcher, professional soccer player with N.J. Sky Blue, will serve as the keynote speaker as William Smith athletics kicks off the Peak Performance Plan for the current academic year on Sunday, Sept. 11. Peak Performance is a comprehensive educational initiative to enhance the lives of Heron student-athletes and coaches. This program emphasizes leadership and life skills development of our student-athletes.
“We are very excited to kick off another great year with our Peak Performance Program. We pride ourselves in preparing our athletes for success on the field, court, water, as well as in the classroom and throughout their lives after graduation,” says Sophie Dennis ’07, field hockey assistant coach and coordinator of student-athlete wellness.
“This event will be motivating and empowering for our student-athletes and set the tone for learning and success throughout the year,” Dennis says.
Peak Performance offers a wide variety of seminars by specialists in the field including William Smith coaches, HWS staff, alumnae, current student-athletes, sport psychologists and other guest speakers. The student athletes are divided into three groups: the “Walk of Champions,” comprised of first-years, “Pathways: a Career Development Plan,” for sophomores, and “Fueling your Body for Performance,” designed for juniors and seniors.
The kickoff event begins with a welcome and dinner at 6 p.m. in the Vandervort Room of the Scandling Campus Center. Fletcher will present her talk, “A Winning Mentality,” from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m.
