Community Engagement Careers Talk

Thomas F. Toole, executive director of the Center for Community Engagement at St. John Fisher College, will be the Colleges’ next Professionals in Residence speaker on Tuesday, Oct. 18. Toole will discuss “Public Service: A Lifestyle, a Career.”

Sponsored by the Salisbury Center for Career Services, Professionals in Residence offers opportunities for students to speak one-on-one with individuals with successful careers who are willing to share some tips of the trade that come only with individual experience.

Toole is an active consultant to nonprofit organizations. He has worked with more than 20 nonprofits in such areas as board development, strategic planning and business process improvement. Before joining Fisher, Toole worked for more than 20 years for United Way of Greater Rochester, most recently as senior vice president for gift planning. Toole also teaches in the Master’s of Public Health program in the University of Rochester’s Department of Community Preventive Medicine. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto and holds an MBA from the University of Rochester.

He will present his life’s work and current career in community engagement to students at 7 p.m., in Trinity 305.
