In Tuesday's election, measures banning same-sex marriage passed overwhelming in all 11 states where the issue was on the ballot.
Professor Craig Rimmerman, an expert on gay rights, is quoted in the Nov. 4 Christian Science Monitor on a story titled “A drubbing for same-sex marriage” that details the defeat.
Rimmerman is the author of several books on gay rights and recently published From Identity to Politics: The Lesbian and Gay Movements in the United States (Temple University Press, 2001). He is the author of Gay Rights, Military Wrongs (1995) and Politics of Gay Rights (2000), which both offer cutting edge research in the politics of the gay and lesbian movement.
Rimmerman has taught at Hobart and William Smith Colleges since 1986. He holds the Ph.D. and master's degrees in political science from Ohio State University, and a bachelor's degree in political science and English from Miami University.
