Junior Emily D’Addario captured her third straight first place finish, leading the William Smith cross country team to its fifth straight title at the Hobart Invitational this afternoon. D’Addario set a new course record completing the 6-kilometer campus course in 22 minutes, 22 seconds.
D’Addario topped the previous course record of 22:38 set by Potsdam’s Jody Schopmann on Sept. 18, 2004. The Hobart Invitational was D’Addario’s third collegiate race. It also marks the second time this season she has set a new course record. She started off the season setting a new course mark at the SUNYIT Invitational.
William Smith finished with 32 team points. SUNY ESF placed second with 45 points, and Wells College rounded out the top three with 102 points.
Junior Kelly Watters was the second Heron to cross the finish, recording a time of 24:45. First-year Avery Share finished in 25:07 for a fifth place finish. Sophomore KC Cronmiller was next coming in ninth in 25:49, and senior Molly Sharry rounded out the top 5 Heron runners with a time of 26:58 for 14th place.
William Smith will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 24, when the Herons compete in the Houghton Invitational.
