The Hobart soccer team moved up one spot to No. 11 in this week’s National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll. The Statesmen moved up two spots to No. 9 in the D3soccer.com poll.
On Saturday, Hobart edged Union 1-0, securing its ninth shutout this fall. Senior Lukas Petersen scored his fourth goal of the season and the game-winner after a corner kick by sophomore Kaeghan Kelly. Senior Charlie Hale finished with four saves to earn his sixth shutout. Hale is sporting a 0.75 goals against average and a .839 save percentage. He is tied for third in the Liberty League in shutouts and ranks fifth with 47 saves.
The Statesmen have clinched a berth in the four-team Liberty League Tournament. The winner of the Oct. 29 RIT at Hobart match will be the No. 2 seed and host the loser on Nov. 2.
Senior Tommy Hayes leads the Statesmen with 13 points on five goals and three assists. He ranks 10th in the conference in points and is tied for ninth in goals. Senior Tony Yeboah is also tied for ninth with five goals. Yeboah and Hayes are tied for third in the conference with three game-winning goals apiece. Kelly is tied for eighth in the Liberty League with his team-high four assists.
The Statesmen defeated Fredonia 4-0 this afternoon, and will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 29 when they host RIT for a Liberty League match beginning at 1 p.m. Fans can follow the action online with Live Stats and Live Video.
