John Hoff ’77 will give a talk titled, Finding and Keeping a Financial Job in the New Paradigm, at 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2 in Stern 201, as part of the Professionals in Residence series sponsored by the Salisbury Center for Career Services and Professional Development.
In his talk, Hoff will offer techniques to help overcome the tough job market, especially in the financial services sector. Hoff will also present pitfalls to avoid that can short circuit a financial career.
With nearly three decades working on Wall Street, Hoff is business manager for short-term markets and research and strategy for the U.S. investment banking group of the Royal Bank of Scotland, based in Connecticut. His work includes operational risk, strategic initiatives, regulatory compliance and management information. Hoff is also a recruiter for the Royal Bank of Scotland, working as a member of the oversight committee for college recruiting.
After his talk on the job market, Hoff will discuss the Royal Bank of Scotland’s summer internship program and opportunities for HWS students.
At Hobart, Hoff earned a degree in economics, was a member of Kappa Alpha and the HWS Sailing Team. He also holds a MBA in finance from Columbia University.
