The third annual Mr. Hobart fundraiser will take place on Friday, Dec. 9, again sponsored by the HWS Campus Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Last year’s event raised approximately $3,000 to aid Habitat for Humanity of Ontario County’s building efforts. Thirteen eager contestants are ready to battle for the bragging rights that come with the Mr. Hobart title.
The event begins with a group performance featuring all of the contestants, choreographed by Allauna Overstreet-Gibson ’14. Several categories follow during which the panel of six surprise judges will examine the contestants. A sportswear portion will show just how sharp the contenders look, a question and answer session will challenge their ability to think and respond on the spot, and finally a talent section will allow the men to show off their unique side to the judges and audience.
Darnell Pierce, area coordinator for Hale, Bartlett, Durfee, Geneva, Medbery, and 380 South Main, will serve as the master of ceremonies, and all three of the Colleges’ a capella groups, Three Miles Lost, Perfect Third and the Hobartones, will provide entertainment during the show.
Roger Chapin, vice president of Habitat for Humanity of Ontario County, will be one of the judges at the event and the Lapp family, who will own the house currently being built by Habitat will be special guests.
Sarah Cifaratta ’13, the president of the HWS chapter of Habitat for Humanity, predicts that the event will be a great success, and says that she and other club members, including co-president Taylor Milbrath ’14 and secretary Emily Vollo ’14, have been working hard to put the event together.
This year, a regular ticket to the show will cost $5. However, an upgrade pass, complete with front row seats, will cost $12 with all donations going directly to Habitat for Humanity.
The show will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Albright Auditorium. For more information, please contact Cifaratta at email@example.com .
