Hobart Competes in Sponaugle Tournament

The Hobart College basketball team will ring in the New Year in the Sponaugle Tournament hosted by Franklin & Marshall College on Jan. 2 and Jan. 3. The Statesmen will face Drew University in the tournament opener at 5 p.m. on Monday.

The host Diplomats will take on Misericordia University at 7 p.m. in the nightcap. The consolation game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. on Tuesday with the championship following at 7 p.m. F&M will provide live video and live stats for all four games.

Hobart (6-1) is looking to shake off its first loss of the season, a 72-62 setback to then No. 24 Rochester on Dec. 10. The Statesmen are ranked 10th in the nation in field goal percentage (.509), 17th in 3-point field goal percentage (.417), and 24th in rebounding margin (+8.7).

Drew is 2-8 this season, looking to stop a six-game losing streak.
