Geneva High and Middle schools are preparing to host and celebrate the many international cultures represented in the local community. In a collaborative effort between the school district and Hobart and William Smith Colleges, the annual Festival of Nations will be held on Saturday, March 31, from 1 – 3 p.m. Through art, food, performances, music and cultural presentations, the Festival of Nations is an opportunity for the members of the Geneva community to come together.
A flavorful mix of foods from around the world will be served and there will be a Cook Off on Friday, March 30, at 3 p.m. in the Geneva High School cafeteria.
Now in its fifth year, the Festival of Nations celebrated its biggest event last year with almost 50 groups and clubs represented through food, music, games, performances and presentations. Nearly 3,000 people attended the festival last year – triple the previous year’s attendance.
This year, there are expected to be a multitude of booths introducing attendees to the diverse population of Geneva through music, food, art and a variety of cultural activities and performances.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, or if you are interested in volunteering, please contact High School English Teacher Nikki Kersebergen at 315-781-0402 or Nkersbergen@genevacsd.org.
In addition, the Festival Committee is looking for an array of musical groups and performers for the Festival. If interested in performing, please contact Erica Connor at 315-781-3103 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
