The Hobart College hockey team will host Neumann for the ECAC West Tournament Championship at The Cooler on Saturday, March 3 at 7 p.m. The Statesmen will play for the program’s second ECAC West title.
Tickets for the game are $5 for adults and $3 for children. All Hobart and William Smith students will receive free admission with HWS ID courtesy of Hobart Student Government and William Smith Congress.
The Statesmen, the tournament’s No. 3 seed, are ranked eighth in the East Region according the latest NCAA Division III Regional Poll. Hobart owns a 15-10-1 overall record. The Knights are ranked No. 7 in the regional poll and come to Geneva with a 15-7-3 overall mark.
Hobart downed second-seeded Manhattanville 6-2 in the ECAC West semifinal last Saturday to earn a spot in the championship game. It’s the first time the Statesmen have advance to the championship since 2009. Hobart is 1-1-1 in three previous meetings with Neumann this season. Junior Frank Salituro and senior Greg Ciciola pace the Hobart offense. Salituro leads the Statesmen with 26 points and 15 assists. Ciciola has logged a team-high 13 goals and chipped in nine assists. Junior Nick Broadwater is back in goal for Hobart. He is sporting a 2.97 goals against average and a .907 save percentage.
The Knights earned a spot in the conference final by coming from behind to edge Utica 4-3 in overtime in the league play-in game on Feb. 22, and then rallying to defeat top-seeded Elmira 5-4 in overtime last Saturday. Marlon Gardner leads the team with 26 points on 11 goals and 15 assists. Cory Park is right behind him with 23 points on 13 goals and 10 assists.
