Filmmaker and writer Mara Ahmed will join the HWS campus on Thursday, March 8 for a discussion and film screening. Ahmed will discuss her career and film “Pakistan 101” at 5 p.m. in the Intercultural Affairs House, followed by a screening of the documentary at 7 p.m. in the Fisher Center, located in Demarest 212.
This short documentary tries to inform the public about Pakistan and bridge that gap by answering the question: what does the man or the woman on the streets of Lahore think about America?
Shot entirely in Lahore, “Pakistan 101” is a broad survey of public opinion about issues of interest to Americans such as the possibility of democracy in Pakistan, the War on Terror, the Taliban and American foreign policy in the region.
The talk and screening are sponsored by Intercultural Affairs in collaboration with the South Asian Culture Club and South Asia Speaker Series in honor of International Women’s Day.
