The Hobart College squash team swept Concordia-Wisconsin 9-0 in the first match of its spring break trip. The Statesmen are now 5-2 overall this season.
Junior Peter Cruice and senior Kevin Kent secured the first win for Hobart at No. 3 doubles, cruising to an 8-2 win. Senior Walter Green and senior Kevin Bates paired up for an 8-3 victory at No. 2, and junior Sam DeLuccia and first-year Michael Fields earned an 8-4 win at the top doubles spot.
Kent claimed a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles to put the Statesmen up 4-0. Green secured the victory defeating Nate Hoeppner 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5. DeLuccia tallied his second win of the day at the top singles spot (6-3, 6-2). Bates followed with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at No. 3, and junior Alex James registered a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2. Fields secured the sweep breezing to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4.
Hobart will be back in action tomorrow, March 19 when they take on St. Thomas at 8 a.m.
