HWS will host an Oxfam banquet in order to help raise money and awareness about world hunger on Thursday, April 17. The banquet will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the faculty dining room. While steak is on the menu, not all attendees will see it on their plates.
At an Oxfam banquet, 15 percent of the participants get a steak dinner, 30 percent get a spaghetti dinner, and 55 percent get bread, rice and water. These proportions are reflective of the distribution of food around the world. A program of discussion and activities that raise awareness about world poverty levels will accompany the banquet.
The dinner is expected to be a moving experience for all of the participants, regardless of what they are given to eat.
Tickets cost $10 each and will be made available to the first 100 individuals who register. The entire $1,000 raised will go to Oxfam America.
Anyone interested in participating should e-mail Professor of Economics Alan Frishman at firstname.lastname@example.org.
