Brooke Parish ’84 was recently named president and chief executive officer of Oakum Bay Capital, LLC. As such, he will become a partner and shareholder. Founded in 2008 as KVO Capital Management, the firm manages long/short value investment strategy. Parish was most recently partner and managing director at York Capital Management, a hedge fund company founded with the goal to provide consistent investment returns.
In a press release issued by Oakum Bay Capital, the firm’s founder and chair Kernan Oberting is quoted. “I have known Brooke for more than 20 years, and he is an outstanding executive that can build out our investment team’s expertise and expand our capital base. Our investors will definitely benefit from his knowledge and experience.”
“I am extremely pleased and excited to join Oakum Bay Capital in a senior leadership position,” Parish is quoted. “For much of my career I have worked to grow businesses. I look forward to leading Oakum Bay Capital toward greater success.”
Prior to joining York Capital Management in 2003, Parish worked in New York at Lazard Asset Management, another investment management company. Previously, he worked in San Francisco at a start-up alternative asset management firm, and spent seven years with Bessemer Trust. There, Parish was the head of the alternative asset management group in New York. His career began in Boston in the Employee Benefits Division of Aetna Life Insurance Company.
He received his B.A. in history from Hobart College and has returned to campus to present “Careers in Finance: Beyond the Numbers” as part of the Professionals in Residence series sponsored by the Salisbury Center for Career Services and Professional Development.
