The Campus Activities Board is gearing up for their kick-off concert for the semester on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 8 p.m., when singer/songwriter DEV will bring her pop/hip-hop energy to the Smith Opera House. She will be joined by special guest Outasight.
Students will recognize DEV from hearing her songs on the radio, notably “Like a G6,” “Bass Down Low,” and “Dancing in the Dark,” which peaked at 11th on U.S. charts this year. She has previously worked with groups like the Cataracts and the Far East Movement and is now touring with Outasight.
Outasight, whose real name is Richard Andrew, is an up-and-coming pop artist who also draws from other genres, including classic rock, hip-hop, and soul. He recently performed his popular single “Tonight is the Night” on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
“Overall, it should be a really fun and entertaining concert; lots of dancing and having fun down at the Smith Opera House,” says Kelly Haley, CAB’s music chair, who is organizing the concert. “I really hope to see many students there supporting DEV and Outasight, as well as the Colleges and CAB.”
Tickets are available outside Saga dining hall at lunch and dinner up until the concert on Sept. 8th. The College Store will offer tickets for those who wish to use student charge or credit cards. Tickets are $10 for HWS students with ID (multiples if needed) and $25 without an HWS ID. The doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m.
