The William Smith cross country team finished in first place at the Wells Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 20. Senior Emily D’Addario finished first of 38 runners and the Herons boasted three of the top five finishers.
D’Addario crossed the finish line of the 5-kilometer course 19:56.12. She was 1:02.58 ahead of the second place finisher from Wells. It’s her fourth victory this season. Junior Marielle Verni was next posting a time of 21:09.13 for third place. Sophomore Avery Share claimed fifth place finishing in 21:31.27.
Junior Maggie Nash placed seventh in 21:41.20 and junior K.C. Cronmiller completed the top five Heron runners, logging a ninth place finish and clocking a time of 22:02.53.
William Smith secured the team title with 24 points. Daemen took second with 46 points, and Wells finished third with 68 team points.
The Herons will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 27, when they compete in the Liberty League Championships in Potsdam, N.Y. The women’s race is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
