Statesmen To Compete In Championship

The Hobart cross country team will compete in the 2012 Liberty League Championship hosted by Clarkson in Potsdam, N.Y., on Saturday, Oct. 27. The men’s race is slated to begin at noon.

St. Lawrence will be looking to defend its team title this year. The Statesmen are working to improve on a seventh place finish in 2011. Vassar, RPI, Clarkson, RIT, Union and Bard will also be competing in the championship meet.

First-year Patrick Hatheway has led the Hobart harriers across the finish line in all seven meets this fall. He has finished in fifth place in the SUNYIT Invitational and the Wells Invitational. Hatheway has garnered the Liberty League Men’s Cross Country Rookie of the Week twice this year.

The top seven finishers at the championship race earn All-Liberty League first team honors, and runners who finish eighth through 14th garner a spot on the second team.
