Sankofa recently hosted a pool tournament at the Office of International Affairs as part of its campus outreach efforts. Prizes were awarded to three winners: Jeffrey Matos ’16, Kingsley Adarkwah ’13, and Nathaniel Coe ’13.
“We wanted to make Sankofa a more diverse club that appeals to everyone,” says Victoria Thomas ’15, who organized the event. “It’s a fun, competitive event that brings HWS students and faculty together.”
More than 20 students signed up for the tournament through an online scheduling system. Thomas then created random pairings based on students’ availability as noted on the site. Games spanned from Monday until Friday morning. On Friday afternoon, Sankofa celebrated the end of the tournament with a reception for all participants. At the reception, Assistant Professor of Philosophy Eric Barnes demonstrated some professional pool techniques for the participants.
