Trowbridge and HWS Brass Ensemble

Musical Director Jim Trowbridge and members of the Colleges Brass Ensemble are performing their winter concert on Friday, Nov. 30. The show is titled “A Salute to Veterans” and will feature music to honor veterans of the United States Military. The show will be held at 8 p.m. in St. John’s Chapel.

Performance numbers will include songs by John Philip Sousa, Glen Miller and other similar artists.

The Colleges Brass Ensemble has been a part of the campus’s musical talent for more than 10 years. Typically made up of HWS students and community members, this year’s group features student performers Jacob Price ’15, Sam Burrell ’15, and Kelly Punch’16 on trumpets; Gina Mercuri ’14 on horns; Michelle Poulin’15 and Shane Haley’13 on trombones; and Brian Schimmel’16 on tuba.

The Colleges Brass Ensemble rehearses on Thursday evening in Williams Hall. Rehearsals run from 7:30-9 p.m. and consist of run-throughs of songs from soundtracks to classical and jazz tunes. Students who wish to join the ensemble should contact Trowbridge at or 315-789-1192. Students will need to perform a piece for the audition.
