Myers ’68 Gives ‘Community Character’

Bruce Myers, a member of the Hobart Class of 1968, was profiled in the Community Leader, Falmouth, Maine, on Jan. 27. His day job is in the development office at North Yarmouth Academy, where he has worked for 21 years, but his real love is coaching. This year, he is coaching the Academy's boys' varsity lacrosse, middle school girls' hockey, and middle school boys' soccer teams.

“I think of coaching as a classroom without walls,” he said. “You probably deal with the whole student more than in the classroom.”

After graduating from Hobart College, he attended a theological seminary and worked at Maine Medical Center as part of his work-study. It was there that he met his wife, Ann, who was working as the chaplain's secretary. Before coming to North Yarmouth Academy, Myers was a banker and a salesman.
