Blanchard Chairs Panel at College Art Association Conference

Lara Blanchard, the Henry Luce Assistant Professor of East Asian Art, served as the co-chair of a cross-cultural panel at the recent College Art Association conference in Atlanta, Ga. She and her colleague Roslyn Hammers of Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington, jointly conceived the idea for the panel, “The Song Dynasty beyond the Song: Its Legacy within and outside China.” The papers examined the impact that Chinese art of the Song dynasty (960-1279) had on art criticism and on later art movements in China, Korea and Japan, with papers that focused on problems of referentiality and historicity in Asian art history.
