HWS Physics Professor Steven Penn has been elected to the Executive Committee of the American Physical Society's (APS) Topical Group on Gravity (TGG). The APS is the preeminent professional society for physicists in the U.S., and the TGG is repsonsible for the promotion of gravitational research.
“This year, as we celebrate the life work of Einstein with the World Year of Physics, the gravitational physics community is making great progress on some of the most fundamental experiments of our time,” says Penn. “Yet ironically, federal funding for physics research is being cut across the board. This trend must be reversed. We must educate the public and the elected representatives on the importance of gravitational research so that a rational funding policy may be established.”
