Dave Schwartz ’01 recently won the 2012 National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA) Award for Minnesota. Sports anchors from each state are nominated for the honor by other NSSA members. Schwartz is a sports anchor for KARE 11, a news network that serves the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. Winners will be honored at the 54th Annual NSSA Awards Weekend in Salisbury, N.C., June 8 to June 10.
Schwartz received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Hobart College. He went on to earn a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School at Syracuse University. Prior to joining KARE as a sports multimedia journalist, Schwartz was a sports director at KTAL in Shreveport, La.
Schwartz won an Emmy for on-camera talent at the 2011 Upper Midwest Emmy Awards in Minneapolis, Minn. He currently lives in Minnesota with his wife and children and enjoys playing hockey in his free time.
