Posey ’15 Published in Polaris

Alison Posey ‘15 recently had a short story, “Congratulations,” included in Polaris, an Undergraduate Journal of Arts and Literature, which is published by Ohio Northern University. This is the first time she has had worked published in a journal.

According to its website, Polaris publishes in the categories of fiction, nonfiction, poetry and visual art. The site notes, “We want to see the best that the undergraduate student has to offer and showcase the unique voice of the developing and emerging writer.”

Last year, Posey had a short story published in Thel, the HWS literary magazine, and will be included in this year’s issue as well. Posey wrote “Congratulations” in Assistant Professor of English Vinita Prabhakar’s “Creative Non-fiction Seminar” last semester.

“I love the genre of creative non-fiction because it allows me to combine my past experiences with creative writing,” explains Posey.

She is double majoring in English and Spanish with a minor in Latin American studies. On campus, she works as a writing colleague in her second placement with Visiting Professor of Writing and Rhetoric Benjamin Ristow as well as a teaching assistant for Associate Professor of Spanish and Hispanic Studies Caroline Travalia.
