Mike Black, general manager of WEOS-FM, has been named the Secretary of Eastern Public Radio and a member of the executive board. Eastern Public Radio is an association of public radio organizations in New England and the Mid-Atlantic states that provides and facilitates professional growth, advocacy and networking for its members, to enhance and improve the ability of member stations to serve their listeners and communities.
Besides WEOS, member stations in New York include WAER in Syracuse, WNYE, WNYC and WFUV in New York, WMHT in Schenectady, WLIU in Southampton, WRVO in Oswego, WSLU in Canton and WXXI in Rochester.
Black has recently been a PRSS trainer for the rollout of ContentDepot and a ContentDepot implementation adviser. He is a founding member of the student media services organization Collegiate Broadcasters Incorporated, and served as its first chair. Prior to WEOS, Black worked for WHYY-TV in Philadelphia, WXXI-TV in Rochester, and WASB, WBSU, and WBKT in Brockport, N.Y. He was the recipient of a Sid Brown Scholarship from PBMA and also was named United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Media Person of the Year. He also served on many PRC task forces in planning the conference. Black was also a finalist for three Emmy awards.
