Deutchman addresses Democrats

Political Science professor Iva E. Deutchman recently spoke at the Canandaigua Democratic party's Meet the Candidates night.

She discussed her current research on modern American conservatism, and talked about her recent trip to Washington, D.C., where she interviewed several leading conservative thinkers and activists.

Among those with whom she spoke in the nation's capital were Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform, a coalition of taxpayer groups, individuals and businesses opposed to higher taxes at both the federal, state and local levels; Bill Kristol, editor of the influential Washington-based political magazine, The Weekly Standard; and Lee Edwards, a Distinguished Fellow in Conservative Thought at The Heritage Foundation and described by many as the historian of the American conservative movement.
