Sharon Best, former HWS vice president for development and gift planning, was recently elected to the board of directors of the Geneva Historical Society.
She also served on the board from 1975 to 1980 and is a member of the Geneva City Planning Board. She is a former member of the board of directors of Geneva Free Library.
Two others with HWS connections were also elected to terms on the board: Clarence Butler, dean of Hobart College; and Mary Hosking, professor emerita of physical education.
Named Volunteer of the Year at the same annual meeting, June 8 at Club 86 in Geneva, was Jane B. Donegan, who is married to Robert Huff, professor emeritus of history.
Donegan, a retired teacher, is a past president of the Geneva Free Library board of trustees, and has spent several months organizing and cataloging the papers of Warren Hunting Smith,a grand-nephew of William Smith and a long-time trustee, for whom the HWS library is named.
