Skylar Pinchal ’16 was granted the opportunity to spend time abroad this year, working in London as an intern at NetJets Europe, an innovative private aviation company.
Throughout the course of the internship, Pinchal gained a broad spectrum of experience, rotating between multiple departments including sales, marketing and events.
“I wanted to do something that made what I was learning in the classrooms and lecture halls feel more concrete,” says Pinchal, an international relations major. “NetJets Europe certainly did just that. I was able to see how my course materials actually relate to real-world situations.”
Pinchal sat in on conferences, wrote articles for the company newsletter, and assisted with event preparation. “Everything I did was hands-on, so all of my tasks were very informative and interesting,” she adds.
She believes that her work in the classroom at HWS helped her gain a better understanding of how an international business operates.
“Interning with a company that works with multiple countries and cultures on a daily basis made me grateful to have taken classes such as international relations and anthropology,” she explains. “I feel like I had enthusiastic and passionate professors in these classes who ultimately made me more enthusiastic about the subjects and made me want to learn more.”
On campus, Pinchal is a member of the Writing Colleagues and the Teaching Colleagues programs. She has also been involved with America Reads and Three Miles lost.
