Three members of the Hobart College squash team earned Liberty League postseason recognition. Junior Billy Abrams and first-year Beau Orchard earned spots on the all-conference team, while first-year Felipe Pantle garnered honorable mention.
Abrams played 14 of his 17 matches at the No. 1 spot, posting an 8-9 overall record. He earned six victories at No. 1 and added a 2-1 mark at No. 2. In the CSA Championship, Abrams battled for an 11-5, 11-8, 11-13, 11-13, 13-11 victory against his MIT opponent in the opening round. He also downed his Stanford competition 11-5, 11-7, 11-5 in Hobart’s second match.
Orchard played in 18 matches in his rookie season, registering a team-high 10 victories. He started the year competing at the No. 6 spot and moved through the ranks all the way to No. 2. Orchard went 2-3 at No. 2 and 3-2 at both No. 3 and No. 4. He added a 2-0 mark at the No. 6 spot. Orchard closed out the season with wins against No. 27 Stanford (8-11, 11-5, 11-9, 11-3 at No. 2) and No. 25 Connecticut College (14-12, 11-7, 11-8 at No. 2) in the CSA Championship.
Pantle played in 19 matches this year logging a 7-12 overall record. He competed at Nos. 1-3, recording two wins at the top spot, three at No. 2 and two at No. 3. Pantle posted two victories in the CSA Championship, defeating his opponents from MIT and Stanford in five games.
The Statesmen finished the year with a 7-13 overall record and advanced to the Conroy Cup championship match.
