HWS Sailing Claims 6th in Prosser Trophy

The Hobart and William Smith Colleges sailing team competed in the Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association championship regatta, the Prosser Trophy, this weekend in Annapolis, Md. The Colleges finished in sixth place.
 
HWS posted a 6-15 overall record. Sophomore Eddie Cox, senior John Darby, sophomore William Godfrey, junior Alex Nugent, junior Elliott Morrill, first-year Adam Schaefer, sophomore Allison Aughtry, senior Jane Rew, and senior Julia Oak represented the Colleges in the championship.
 
HWS posted a 2-5 record after Round 1, earning wins over the University of Pennsylvania and Cornell. In Round 2, the Colleges went 2-5 again, this time topping the Big Red and Old Dominion. Round 3 once again saw HWS log a 2-5 record, earning wins over Cornell and the Quakers.
 
St. Mary’s College of Maryland took first place. Georgetown claimed second and Navy took third. The top three teams qualified for a spot in the 2014 ICSA Team Race National Championship.
 
HWS will be back on the water April 12-13, when it competes in the Trustun Umsted in Annapolis and the Thompson Trophy in New London, Connecticut.
