The Geneva City Council recently appointed Stanley Mathews, assistant professor of art at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, to serve on the Geneva City Planning Board.
An architectural historian, Mathews is a licensed architect and is involved with city and regional planning.
In 2004, the City Council appointed him to serve on a city government advisory panel, the Overlay Zoning Advisory Committee, to help to develop urban design guidelines for downtown Geneva.
Mathews was subsequently asked to join a subcommittee to compile the findings of that committee and draft legislation for a new downtown design ordinance.
A member of the HWS faculty since 2000, he formerly served on the Historic Preservation and Planning Commissions of the city of Oberlin, Ohio.
