The Hobart College tennis team traveled to Canton, N.Y., to take on St. Lawrence University and came away with a 6-3 victory. The Statesmen improve to 9-8 overall, while the Saints are now 8-8.
Hobart earned a 2-1 lead in doubles. Junior Michael Fields and first-year Matt DePrima notched an 8-5 win at the top spot and the pair of first-years Michael Rusk and Danny Kot logged an 8-2 victory at No. 2.
First-year Carson Smith won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 to give the Statesmen a 3-1 advantage. Fields registered a 6-1, 7-5 win at the top spot and Kot won in three sets (6-0, 4-6, 6-1) at No. 4 to clinch the victory for Hobart. First-year Jake Criss posted a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 win at No. 5.
The Statesmen will be back in action on Thursday, April 17, when they travel to play RIT at 4 p.m
