The Northeast Conference selected Hobart College senior attackman Cam Stone as its Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week. The Syracuse native became the Statesmen’s Division I career leader in assists while guiding Hobart to a 15-6 NEC win at Wagner College on Friday.
All six of Stone’s points came via the assist, raising his career total to 81. He set up four goals before halftime to tie Nate Hill ’05 atop the leaderboard with 79. Stone seized sole possession of the record on the very first goal of the second half, giving the Statesmen a 10-3 lead. He completed his six-point game with an assist on the final goal of the third quarter that put Hobart in front 12-5.
Including Hobart’s Division II and Division III eras, Stone is ninth in career assists, one shy of No. 8 Ray Gilliam ’87 (82) and five behind No. 7 Roy McAdam ’80 (86). The all-time Hobart record for career assists is 287 set by Rick Gilbert ’74.
Stone leads the NEC in assists (19) and assists per game (1.73). He’s also scored seven goals, collected 12 ground balls, and caused two turnovers this season.
Hobart is 4-7 overall and 3-2 in the Northeast Conference. The Statesmen will host Syracuse University in a non-conference game on Saturday, April 19. The game will be televised by Time Warner Cable Sports with the opening faceoff set for 3:07 p.m. at Boswell Field.
