On Monday, April 28, President Mark D. Gearan was the first guest of “Connections with Evan Dawson,” a new radio show WEOS-FM 89.5 launched in the Finger Lakes. The live two-hour, call-in talk show is produced by WXXI in Rochester, N.Y.
Over the course of the first hour, Gearan and Dawson discussed a myriad of topics in addition to higher education, including his continued friendship with college roommate and nationally syndicated radio host Hugh Hewitt, public service and political discourse, and his history working in the White House and as director of the Peace Corps. Gearan also took questions from callers. The archive of the interview can be heard online.
WEOS-FM 89.5/90.3 is an NPR station and partnership between WXXI Public Broadcasting and Hobart and William Smith Colleges, providing 24 hours of NPR news programs and eclectic entertainment to the Finger Lakes area. The signal reaches Conesus Lake on the west, Otisco Lake on the east, Watkins Glen to the south and Lake Ontario to the north. WEOS-FM also can be streamed live on WEOS.org.
