HWS Sailing Takes 9th in America Trophy

Last weekend, the Hobart and William Smith sailing team finished in ninth place at the conference championship, America Trophy. HWS finished 18 points shy of eighth place and a qualifying spot for the ICSA Coed Dinghy National Semifinals.
 
Georgetown took home first place and St. Mary’s College claimed second. The Naval Academy was third and Old Dominion, the University of Pennsylvania, Fordham, Virginia and Washington College rounded out the top eight.
 
The Colleges took fifth place in the B Division. Junior Elliott Morrill and seniors Julia Oak and Adele Huffine placed in the top five nine times, including one first place finish. Sophomore Eddie Cox and senior Jane Rew finished in 15th place in the A Division.
 
William Smith sailors will be back on the water May 27-30, when they compete in the ICSA Women’s National Championship in Annapolis, Md. The semifinals will take place the first two days, with teams advancing to the championship races on May 29 and 30.
